Making Strangers Happy

Post
None yet... postie's been quite lax recently, think yesterday's post arrived around 3pm!

Apparently, when out and about, I always have a look of anger on my face. I don't know why but I do try to dis-attach myself from my surroundings so as not to let my anxieties overwhelm me. Although this didn't happen today, it has on more than a few occasions and was something I pondered on on my way to Tesco.

Sometimes (Mostly older men I might add!) someone will say to me "Cheer up! Might never happen!".

Now first of all, what do people expect as a response when addressing a stranger in this manner? I'm friendly enough, but I'm afraid of seeing someone I know whilst out and anxious, never mind a stranger speaking to me.

I refrain from replying but honestly! Who are you to say how I should look? Should I take that approach and start telling people with long hair "About time you had a haircut?". It's rude.

Sometimes they even laugh. Well, how do you know that I haven't just had some devastating news? I may have lost a loved one or been evicted.

I'm sure some people mean well but I guess the point I'm getting to is just don't say it. Don't presume that what you think will always make someone else fell better or smile. Maybe instead of upsetting strangers, we could spend some time reminding our loved ones that we love and care for them <3
